KLEFFNER HONORED FOR 13 YEARS OF SERVICE TO GASCONADE VALLEY ENTERPRISE ZONE
Byron Baker of Linn, secretary of the Gasconade Valley Enterprise Zone, presented a plaque of appreciation to retiring board member Jim Kleffner of Maries County. Kleffner was a founding member of GVEZ and served 13 years on the board.

OWENSVILLE—The Gasconade Valley Enterprise Zone held an appreciation luncheon Jan. 25 to honor retiring board member Jim Kleffner of Maries County. Kleffner retired as Maries County presiding commissioner in December and decided also to step down from the GVEZ board. He was instrumental in the designation of the enterprise zone and the formation of GVEZ as a non-profit organization. Kleffner served continuously from 1993 to December 2006.

GVEZ Secretary Byron Baker of Linn presented Kleffner with a plaque of appreciation during the luncheon. The group had its regular board meeting following the luncheon at The Cafe Company in Owensville.

The Gasconade Valley Enterprise Zone works to promote, coordinate and facilitate community and economic development in Gasconade, Maries and Osage counties. A portion of the three-county area is a state designated enterprise zone that offers certain property tax abatements to qualifying companies locating or expanding in the zone.
