Emergency Planning Committee Hosting Training On High-Tech Vehicle Accident Response
Trainings Scheduled For Oct. 25 In St. James

ST. JAMES—Hybrid fuel cars and those with side curtain airbags can present special safety issues for firefighters when these vehicles are involved in accidents, especially when extrication is needed.

Meramec Regional Emergency Planning Committee and Meramec Regional Planning Commission are offering first responders a training opportunity to learn safe techniques for responding to accidents involving high-tech vehicles.

Sullivan Deputy Fire Chief Larry Flesher will present “Responding to High Tech Vehicle Incidents” from 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Meramec Regional Planning Commission, 4 Industrial Drive, St. James, MO.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. There is no cost for the training or dinner, however, pre-registration is requested. To register, persons should contact Nongluk Tunyavanich or Tammy Snodgrass at 573-265-2993 or email nongluk at meramecregion.org or tsnodgrass@meramecregion.org.

The Meramec Regional Emergency Planning Committee works with local governments as well as the private sector to maintain plans responsive to chemical hazards, which seriously threaten the area. The committee periodically coordinates and offers training opportunities for emergency responders in the region. Quarterly meetings are open to the public. Meramec Regional Planning Commission, a voluntary council of local governments serving the eight-county Meramec Region, provides staff support for the local emergency planning committee.
