Jan. 15, 2008 MRPC offering ADVANCED incident command training for first responders Training scheduled Jan. 30-31 in St. JamesST. JAMES—In an effort to provide local response agencies access to required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training, the Meramec Regional Planning and the Meramec Regional Emergency Planning Committee are hosting a two-day advanced training, IS-400: Advanced ICS Command and General - Staff Complex Incidents. The Missouri Sheriffs’ Association is providing the training. The class is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 30-31 at Meramec Regional Planning Commission, 4 Industrial Drive, St. James, MO, and is offered free of charge. The course will expand on information covered in ICS-100 through ICS-300 courses. The course is designed for senior level law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch and public health personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in an area command or multi-agency coordination entity. The ICS-100 through ICS 300 are prerequisites for the ICS-400 course. The class is POST certified. The training qualifies for 16 hours of Missouri POST Continuing Education Units in the area of Technical Studies and Interpersonal Perspectives through the Missouri Sheriffs Association Training Academy, a POST-approved continuing education provider. The Meramec Regional Emergency Planning Committee works with local governments as well as the private sector to maintain plans responsive to chemical hazards, which seriously threaten the area. The committee periodically coordinates and offers training opportunities for emergency responders in the region. Quarterly meetings are open to the public. Meramec Regional Planning Commission, a voluntary council of local governments serving the eight-county Meramec Region, provides staff support for the local emergency planning committee. |
