March 18, 2008 For more information, contact: Department Of Economic Development Promo Director To Speak At Economic Developers BreakfastMike Downing, director of promotions for the Missouri Department of Economic Development, will be the guest speaker at the Meramec Region’s Economic Developers Quarterly Breakfast. The meeting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, March 28 at Country Kitchen in Cuba. Downing will discuss the Missouri Advantage, essentially how Missouri compares to other states and how it markets itself to companies looking to relocate or expand. The presentation will include a brief discussion on the incentives and tax credits offered by the state to new and expanding businesses. For several years now, MRPC has been hosting meetings to bring economic developers, associate members, local elected officials, businesses and others interested in economic development together in a setting where they can learn new information and share information on activities that effect the region. The meeting will also include a round table discussion where those present discuss progress and challenges in their communities and businesses. Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. A professional staff of 26, directed by the MRPC board, offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities. |
