Phelps County PHA to begin accepting housing assistance applications May 30  

ST. JAMES—The Phelps County Public Housing Agency (PHA) is reopening its housing waiting list, and will begin accepting applications for housing assistance, announced Linda Hollandsworth, housing manager. Applications will be accepted at the St. James office beginning May 30 and at the Potosi satellite office, starting June 5.

The PHA’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is reopening after having been closed the past five months. Some 600 families were on the waiting list when it closed at the end of December 2011 and since its closing, the list has been exhausted.

Applications will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Meramec Regional Planning Commission, 4 Industrial Drive, St. James. Applications will now regularly be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays in the St. James office.

Persons in Washington County can meet with housing staff and complete applications from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Washington County Library, 235 E. High St., Potosi and on the first and third Tuesday of each month thereafter.

The Phelps County PHA is an Equal Opportunity Housing Agency that offers rental assistance to very low-income families in Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Washington counties, and Phelps County, outside the city of Rolla.
