Crawford County Road Department employees, community service volunteers assist in trash dump clean up
Over 3,000 pounds of trash removed

STEELVILLE—Crawford County Road Department employees and community service volunteers worked to clean up trash from an illegal dump site on Liberty Road in Steelville on March 19, 2012. Danny Brown, Crawford County Road District 1 foreman, supervised the clean up, which included the assistance of road department employees Bob Plank, truck driver; and Greg Miscke, backhoe operator; as well as two community service volunteers.

Crawford County Commissioner Richard Martin initiated the project, which included the clean up of approximately 3,180 pounds of trash and one tire. The trash was properly disposed in a landfill, and the tire was recycled. Area residents were asked to monitor the site for further illegal dumping activity.

The Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District sponsored the clean up project through a grant, and the Meramec Regional Planning Commission organized the event. For more information on trash site clean up projects, contact MRPC at 573-265-2993 or email nongluk@meramecregion.org.
