Ozark Rivers to honor recycling efforts at Dec. 1 meeting
ST. JAMES, Mo—The Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District (ORSWMD) will host its full council meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 at Meramec Regional Planning Commission, 4 Industrial Drive, St. James. The district’s award dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. and will allow the district to recognize four individuals for their efforts to increase recycling efforts and reduce the amount of waste landfilled.
Those being honored include:
Volunteer involvement: Treva Imes of Maries County for T-shirts to Tote Bags
Non-profit organization: Community Partnership Resale Shop of Rolla
Facility: Phelps County Courthouse/Gary Hicks, Phelps County Commissioner
Public employee: Duane Gavisk for Phelps County Tough on Trash
The meeting is open to the public. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to confirm dinner arrangements.
The Ozark Rivers District includes Crawford, Dent, Maries Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities with populations of 500 or more. The district’s strategy for solid waste reduction, which has been individually adopted by all member governments and approved by MDNR, involves intense education and increased recycling efforts in member counties and cities.

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities.
