BOURBON—The Central District Coalition for Roadway Safety and Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) awarded the Bourbon High School with a Project Graduation grant to assist with expenses for the drug and alcohol-free after graduation celebration for Bourbon High School seniors. The Bourbon High School was one of six Project Graduation grant recipients.
Schools in the Meramec Region were eligible to apply for the Project Graduation grant, which included $200 cash and $100 in gift cards and educational incentives, that remind students to buckle up and arrive alive.
Grants were awarded via a zoom call on May 20. Due to COVID-19, many of the area schools have had to push graduation and project graduation celebration to June and July, but many schools reported they intend to provide the events in a way that keeps the students safe, but still gives them the celebration.
