ST. JAMES—Local government structure, ethics and the Sunshine Law will be among the topics of discussion at an upcoming Elected Officials Workshop from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC), 4 Industrial Drive, St. James. The Missouri Municipal League will present theworkshop.
The cost of the workshop is $10 for MRPC member governments and $15 for non-member governments and other organizations to pay for the dinner and materials. Elected officials such as city council members, mayors and city staff leadership are encouraged to participate as well as those who are considering running for office.
MML is a statewide nonprofit devoted to promoting cooperation of Missouri cities and towns in order to improve municipal government and administration. Many cities in the Meramec Region are members of MML.
MRPC must have at least 25 attendees to host the workshop and RSVPs must be submitted by Nov. 30 to Mary Ann Gorrell at 573-265-2993 or emailed to mgorrell@meramecregion.org.
Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. A professional staff of 24, directed by the MRPC board, offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
