ST. JAMES—The Meramec Regional Planning Commission and the Phelps County Public Housing Agency (PHA) Family Self-Sufficiency Program will host two free workshops in Bourbon and Leasburg June 10.
The Bourbon workshop will be held from 9 to10 a.m. at Autumn Age Homes, 100 Bernice, Bourbon. The Leasburg workshop will be held 11 a.m. to noon at the Village Apartments of Leasburg community room, at 211 First St., Leasburg.
Phelps County PHA senior housing coordinator, Tammy Rigsby, will present “Budgeting and Savings” and discuss the “10 Steps To Homeownership” at both meetings.
Workshops are offered at no cost to the participant, and pre-registration is not required.
Free training classes are a part of the MRPC and PHA’s efforts to help prepare families who are first-time homebuyers for homeownership and make them aware of the resources available to assist with homeownership. These workshops are a part of MRPC’s outreach efforts in partnership with senior citizen housing groups and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, which assists with grant funds to renovate senior citizen housing complexes throughout the region.
