ST. JAMES–Residents throughout the Meramec Region may be eligible for up to $5,000 in grant funding for home repairs through the Meramec Community Enhancement Corporation (MCEC).
MCEC, a 501©3 that works in partnership with Meramec Regional Planning Commission, has been awarded a grant for housing renovation projects in the region by the Federal Home Loan Bank(FHLB) of Des Moines.
The grant program is geared toward low-income homeowners and allows qualifying homeowners to make home repairs and improvements, creating safer, healthier homes. Eligible repairs may include furnace and air conditioning replacement, weatherization improvements, roofing, electrical work, ADA accessibility improvements and flooring.
In addition to the homeowner meeting income guidelines based on county and household size, the property must be a single-family residence with all property taxes paid, and current property insurance is required. Individuals who have previously received any housingrepair grant funds through MCEC are not eligible.
For more information or a pre-application, contact Lyle Thomas at 573-265-2993 or lthomas@meramecregion.org. Pre-applications can also be found at www.meramecregion.org.
