ST. JAMES—The City of Hermann is requesting the help of Hermann residents by completing a public opinion survey. The survey is part of the update of the Hermann Comprehensive Plan, which is being coordinated by Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC). MRPC has developed the public survey with guidance from the comp plan advisory group. Citizen input is requested on a variety of topics, including education, economic development, utilities and more. Results of the survey will be summarized into the Hermann 2035 Comprehensive Plan and will ensure the plan addresses what is important to the city.

“Comprehensive planning is a collaborative process, and public input is necessary so that the plan reflects the values, needs and desires of the community,” MRPC Planning Manager Anne Freand said.

The survey can be found at https://mrpcsurveys.typeform.com/HermannPlan and only takes approximately seven minutes to complete.

“Comprehensive plans are vital to our local communities because they provide long-term guidance and visions for future city growth,” Freand said.

The last Hermann Comprehensive Plan was prepared in 1999 by MRPC. The update to the plan is set to be completed by the fall of 2025 and, when finished, will have implementation actions for a 10-year timeframe.

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. Mary Heywood, representing the unemployed, serves as chair of the board. A professional staff of 28 offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
