ST. JAMES—Maries County will host a residential tire, metals, electronics and appliance collection Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maries County Road District #1 Shed at 11055 Highway 133 in Meta.
A fee of $1.50 will be charged on passenger vehicle tires; $5 on truck tires; and $10 on tractor tires. A fee of $10 will be charged on televisions and $5 on computer monitors. Free items include all appliances,microwaves, hot water heaters, cell phones, flat-screen TVs and monitors and anything with a cord.

Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Meramec Regional Planning Commission provided funds to sponsor the event and Maries County provided the site and personnel.
Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. A professional staff of 21, directed by the MRPC board, offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
