Gasconade County workshop is Nov. 13 in Owensville

ST. JAMES— Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) is hosting the sixth meeting in a series of open-forum public workshops to receive input on a regional safety action plan for all road users in the Meramec Region. The workshop will focus on Gasconade County and is planned on Nov. 13, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Scenic Regional Library, 503 S. Olive St., Owensville.

The upcoming workshop will provide Gasconade County residents a chance to give input on how to make streets and roadways safer in their county. MRPC wants to hear from residents on their experiences as road users and possibilities for enhancing safety for all users. There is an online survey available at https://mrpcsurveys.typeform.com/SS4AGasconade.

In 2023, MRPC was awarded a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant from the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT). Established in 2022, the SS4A program funds planning and implementation activities to prevent deaths and serious injuries on roadways.

The safety action plan is being developed for the Meramec Region, which includes Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties. The plan is anticipated to be completed by March 2025.

Additional meetings include:

  • Nov. 13 – Maries County from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Belle Community Center; and
  • Nov. 20 – Osage County from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Missouri River Regional Library in Linn.
