Reservations now being accepted for MRPC Annual Dinner Oct. 21 in Linn

ST. JAMES—Reservations are now being accepted for the Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) 2021 Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet, planned Oct. 21 at State Technical College of Missouri. The event will be held in the Student Activity Center at 1 Technology Drive, Linn. Each year, MRPC honors residents of the Meramec Region who volunteer their time, talents and support to their communities. 

The public is invited to attend the event in Linn. COVID-19 precautions will be followed. Tickets for the event are $35 per person. For reservations, contact MRPC at 573-265-2993. The deadline for reservations is Oct. 7. A reception will be held prior to the dinner, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The reception is sponsored by Legends Bank. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a program and awards presentation following.

With the cancellation of the 2020 MRPC Annual Dinner, the 2021 dinner will honor 16 volunteers from both 2020 and 2021. Individuals, agency representatives and community organizations being recognized by MRPC for 2020 contributions to their communities are:

  • Ralph and Jerry Voss of Linn, nominated by Osage County Presiding Commissioner Darryl Griffin and MRPC board member Don Claycomb;
  • Paula Pierce of Hermann, nominated by Gasconade County Presiding Commission Larry Miskel; 
  • Joe Brand of Salem, nominated by Dent County Presiding Commissioner Darryl Skiles;
  • Bruce Harrill of Waynesville, nominated by MRPC board member Luge Hardman;
  • Vicki Nelson of Belle, nominated by MRPC board member Steve Vogt;
  • The City of Crocker Park Board, nominated by Crocker Mayor Glen Smith;
  • Kris and Carrie Richards of Potosi, nominated by MRPC board member Laurel Boisonault;
  • Nick Barrack of Rolla, nominated by MRPC board member John Butz;
  • Paige Breeding of Vienna, nominated by Maries County Presiding Commissioner Vic Stratman; 
  • Skyler Rice of Belle, nominated by MRPC board member Steve Vogt, and
  • Wilma Stephen of Vienna, nominated by Maries County Presiding Commissioner Vic Stratman.

Individuals being recognized by MRPC for 2021 contributions to their communities are:

  • Stacey Kelly of Belle, nominated by MRPC board member Steve Vogt;
  • Judy Terry of Rolla, nominated by MRPC board member John Butz;
  • Larry Kampeter of Vienna, nominated by Maries County Presiding Commissioner Vic Stratman;
  • Amanda Wieberg of Vienna, nominated by Maries County Presiding Commissioner Vic Stratman; and 
  • Gracie Schultz of Belle, nominated by MRPC board member Steve Vogt.

The Eugene E. Northern award, the highest honor given by MRPC for volunteers and community service, will also be announced at the Annual Dinner for 2020 and 2021. The Eugene E. Northern award recipient is kept secret until announced at the Annual Dinner. 

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. Steve Vogt, representing the city of Belle, serves as MRPC chairman. A professional staff of 36 led by Executive Director Bonnie Prigge offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
